Even in the rare cases when employers don’t require a job application letter, such as in the case of some part-time jobs, writing one will help you highlight your skills and achievements and get the hiring manager’s attention.
It’s important to carefully manage your unemployed status in your job application. Our first piece of advice is to play down the fact you’re unemployed. Or, in other words, don’t write anything to highlight it. Focus on the skills and experience you’re bringing to the role and the difference you can make.
Gauge how much room you have to write in the duties section of the job application. You may only be able to choose two or three duties that describe your work for previous employers. The ones that you choose should relate directly to the job you are applying for. Write your accomplishments in the duties section of the application.
